Our Goal

At Studio Forma Interior Design, our goal was to seamlessly integrate the essence of Greenworks into their office space, transforming it into an immersive experience and educational hub. Nestled within a serene forest setting, the office itself became a testament to the brand’s commitment to nature and sustainability. Every aspect of the interior design was meticulously crafted to reflect Greenworks’ ethos of cleaner, eco-friendly living. From the choice of materials to the layout, each element was carefully selected to minimize environmental impact while maximizing functionality and aesthetic appeal. As visitors traverse through the office, they are not only greeted by the tranquility of the surrounding nature but also invited to engage with and test Greenworks’ innovative products firsthand. The space serves as a living showcase of the brand’s dedication to creating a greener future, inspiring both employees and visitors alike to embrace sustainable living practices.

When Greenworks acquired this expansive 300,000 sq. ft. facility, it was a neglected and deteriorating space.

However, its location was unparalleled—nestled in a lush forest, with two stories of windows flooding the interior with natural light and offering an inspiring connection to the outdoors. The opportunity was too remarkable to pass up.

The size of the building allowed Greenworks to consolidate multiple locations, bringing the entire team under one roof.

However, the transformation was no small feat. The structure needed extensive renovations—broken windows, outdated electrical, leaking plumbing—virtually everything required an upgrade. Fortunately, the building’s owner had the foresight to look beyond the present state and trust our vision for what it could become.

The goal was to create an immersive, interactive space where staff and visitors could experience Greenworks’ innovations firsthand. As they moved through the facility, they would be able to engage with tools, explore new products, and test cutting-edge technology in a hands-on environment.

The design seamlessly flowed from the office area into the grand finale—the warehouse. A vast, dynamic space filled with new products, constant movement, and a sense of energy and innovation.

The renovated facility empowered Greenworks to bring long-envisioned initiatives to life, including a client education department, a dedicated vendor training program, and state-of-the-art automation.

Advanced electric robots now handle sorting and stacking with self-docking integration, turning the inventory system into a finely tuned operation.

This ambitious project not only revitalized a forgotten space but also redefined what was possible for Greenworks, setting a new standard for efficiency, engagement, and innovation.

Challenges/Solutions

The renovation process presented several significant challenges that had to be carefully addressed. First and foremost was health and safety. Upgrading the lighting, electrical, and plumbing systems became a priority, ultimately expanding the scope of the project far beyond initial expectations. Security enhancements required updated doors, while aging windows needed complete replacement to improve energy efficiency and overall safety.

Another key challenge was creating a sense of connection within such a vast space. With team members often working in different areas, it was essential to create an environment that reinforced a unified brand and vision. To achieve this, we designed a welcoming lunchroom where employees could gather in a relaxed, communal setting. Featuring picnic tables, custom booths, and even a dock-inspired seating area, this space quickly became one of the most popular hubs in the    building—encouraging casual interaction, collaboration, and a strong sense of community.

Every detail of the space was carefully considered to reflect the company’s identity. A cohesive colour palette, branded elements, and product displays ensured that no corner felt overlooked, making the entire facility feel intentional and inspiring.

Sound management was another crucial factor. In large, open environments, noise can quickly become overwhelming, especially with employees on calls or in meetings. To mitigate this, we incorporated carpet tiles throughout, installed acoustic treatments in meeting rooms, and strategically placed freestanding acoustic “trees” to create a natural sound buffer. Additionally, murals and product displays helped absorb sound, preventing excessive echo and ensuring a more comfortable work environment.

By addressing these challenges thoughtfully, we transformed the building into a functional, engaging, and cohesive

workspace—one that not only meets operational needs but also fosters connection, creativity, and productivity.
